A theme you may have attributed to our point of view is freedom and choice reigns supreme. So naturally, we feel right at home at The Muddy Pig, the Twin Cities’ original craft beer bar. With over 48 taps and a rotating list there is something for the seasoned craft beer lover and lovers of fruity and light beers as well.
The specialties at the Pig are Belgians (which we love) and American Craft Beers. The selection is ever changing but you are always going to find a good pint from different areas in the country and some popular spots in Europe on this list.
Aside from the brew choices, the draw to us is the lack of pretentiousness you’ll find. Wooden walls with wear and a deep mahogany color, a bit of music that keeps it simple and chairs you ease into, with a slightly lower seat so you can comfortably recline and cross your legs while pretending you know what tannins are as you sip your beer.
Although the menu is slim, the food is quite remarkable. Our favorite section of the lot, the Pig-Mex inventory where you can get a giant burrito for a reasonable price. Normally we don’t go for the staple dish of a restaurant because it is often over-hyped but that notion couldn’t be more wrong when it comes to The Muddy Pig flagship appetizer known as Pig Wings. A couple of tender pork shanks well worth a try.
Beer and pork. Could it really get better?
