Burgers topped and filled with molten cheese, good draft beer, spicy wings and fried pickles. It’s what the Blue Door Pub in St. Paul does well. With a door that is indeed blue, you find that what The Blue Door says they’ll offer is exactly that.
Inventors of the Blucy, they aren’t lying when they say a couple of fresh ground Angus patties coming together with some cheese in the middle is a “burger miracle.”
Miracles seem all too infrequent these days, but here, they happen every night. With multiple locations, our favorite is on Selby (what we think is the best street in St. Paul). It’s cramped and busy and the citizens of St. Paul will likely keep it that way with a cornucopia of burgers to dive into.
There is always a specialty burger or other food item on, and we suggest you try it. We may not know what it is but it’s worth investigating. That being said, we have enjoyed a Cease & Desist burger a time or two, appropriately named after a burger place with arches told them to knock it off. Probably because they knew it tasted better.
We’d argue there isn’t a bad thing on the menu with a wing list not for the faint of heart and buffalo chicken totchos worth sharing with the table. But you’re here for the Blucy. Just make sure you give it a chance to cool a bit so the scalding cheese doesn’t kill your tastebuds. You’re going to need them.
