We got to thinking the other day, “Where can we get some Latin food in smaller portions?” We sought out such a place and found exactly what we were looking for in Sonora Grill on Lake Street in Minneapolis.
Caramelos here are single sonora-style tacos on two corn tortillas and they are a delicious bunch in varieties of beef, chicken, pork and vegetarian options.
We recommend grabbing one of each of course, assuming you’ve brought your appetite, and grab an award winning drink along with it. We like to pair the beef skirt steak caramelo, which is extremely tender, with their house margarita, known as the Sonora, that was voted the best in the city in 2014.
Owners Conrado Paredes and Alejandro Castillon really started their food endeavors with Sonora in 2011 and have since loved calling Minneapolis home as they feel personally responsible for introducing Latin, South American and Mexican cuisine into the Twin cities.
The authenticity here is as admired as the desire to fuse other cultures, offering a really unique product that Sonora is continuing to craft and their customers are continuing to admire.
