You see that? That thing right around the corner? It’s summer and we couldn’t be more excited to get out and about to enjoy the beautiful weather. One of our favorite streets to visit, as I’m sure you’re aware of by now, is Grand Ave in St. Paul for the sheer number of things to do and see.
So when you’re walking down Grand, people watching, and breathing in the fresh Minnesota air, you should probably be holding a waffle cone from Grand Ole Creamery, between Grotto and Avon.
It’s a classic. The soda fountain type of joint is great to jump into. Not only is the environment what you would want and expect from such an establishment, it takes you awhile to notice it because your eyes are instantly drawn to the cornucopia of ice cream flavors behind the glass display. Cookie Monster, Rum Raisin, Mexican Chocolate and Pralines, Marshmallow Man, Kit-Kat and more!
The colors, the chunks of chocolate, fruit and the like makes it nearly impossible to choose.
We’re shameless though, and often get as many samples as we can until we’re drawing looks from other people in the place before we finally choose one.
Sweets might not be your bag and that’s all right. This place is actually called Grand Ole Creamery & Pizza and their spinning out pies like magic. The pizza side feels very arcade style, kind of like our very own Pizza Planet and that’s a great thing.
Passing on a slice, we did opt for a waffle cone filled with cookie dough flavor last time we were here. Not overly sweet, massive chunks of cookie dough, and a crispy and buttery waffle cone. We’re gushing just thinking about how good it was.
Time to go back.
