Every now and then you may be inclined to try something you might not have thought of before. To go to a restaurant for the environment firstly and the food secondly. To congregate with strangers or to realize that the food is as good as that environment.
You might go to that place because it’s called coup d’etat and you might enjoy knowing that it’s based on the secondary definition of a successful move rather than a seizure of government.
Apologies for getting all philosophical about this place, but truly we love it here. coup d’etat’s menu has the perfect number of choices without complicating you. The prices are affordable and the food is delicious.
We often go for the fried chicken because it comes with some collards and mac n’ cheese. Just smelling the plate of food is worth the 21 bucks but we’re more than comfortable diving in with our hands and making sure the bones are as clean as possible, leaving you to wonder if there was chicken their in the first place.
But who likes to get the same thing all the time? Try the gnocchi, one of the best in the city, or the grilled cheese, which features sourdough, hummus, tallegio, and roasted tomatoes.
We say yes to that.
A good selection of wines and cocktails are found here as well.
Uptown has plenty of good joints and we implore you not to miss this one.
