It’s not often we like to wait for things. With sympathizers of this sentiment all around us, we make an exception for a place called The Happy Gnome and we reckon you should too.
Consistently packed, The Happy Gnome is well worth the wait for their gastro forward menu and attention to craft both in the glass and on the plate. Having been voted the best beer list in the cities multiple times, the Gnome has increased their number of taps up to 89, packed with varieties and specialties from local breweries and lesser known worldies.
While beer lists with this many choices can often be intimidating, here it’s easy. Selecting a brew is based on your taste buds and categorized by hoppy, malty, funky, Belgiany and more.
They even feature a local brewery once a month, that has the brewer stop in to explain their beer in earnest while the Gnome’s chef plans a pairing menu to suit the flavors offered from the beer.
However, even if you’re not showing up on one of these special occasions, the Gnome is a fantastic place to stop in for an appetizer (two words: Steak Tartare) or a decadent entree. Don’t mind the prices of the entrees, each one is likely to stuff you and a friend and still potentially leave some grub to take home.
It’s also our favorite spot to be on a sunny fall day. Outside there is an expansive patio, outfitted with a fireplace to keep you cozy before the beer starts taking effect. A good spot for a date, small group of friends or collective of strangers, try the Gnome multiple times–you’re likely to have a different but outstanding experience, every single time.
