It’s not very often you’ll be eating bone marrow. Few places in the cities serve it but Libertine is one of them. This alone, is worth the effort of heading to Uptown. If you already live in the area, chances are you’ve been to Libertine. It’s a bit upscale, a bit loud but the food is rock solid and their drink menu offers you plenty of options.
We’re whiskey people, so if we’re getting a cocktail it’s gotta be A Girl Named Billie, featuring bourbon, cassis sour and tobacco bitters. Yep, tobacco bitters.
However, this sought after bone marrow can come with what Libertine calls “dirty whiskey” in the form of Rebel Yell. It also comes with toast, onion jam, parsley and crunchy salt. Don’t complain that it costs $17. Bone marrow is supposed to cost that much.
Another good selection for an appetizer would be their Tuna Poke Tacos and a favorite main course amongst regulars would be the Bacon Chop, which is big enough for two!
But be sure to stop in here for Brunch as well. Grab a seat on the rooftop patio, gaze out at the scenic uptown and order the chicken and waffles. The chicken is dredged in jalapeno-buttermilk, the waffles are a delicious bourbon-bacon and it’s all topped with red-eye gravy.
So yeah, you’ll want those.
